HUGE SALE

Together we raised $1896.61 for Hannah's Heroes and the Breakfast club of Canada during our Lenten Service Project. Thank you for your support.

At Sacred Heart school, the grade six students sold homemade products to the school community to raise money for the Breakfast Club of Canada which provides food for children who would normally go to school hungry and Hannah’s Heroes which raises money for pediatric brain cancer research. The Young Entrepreneurs program was sponsored by Envision Financial and created by PowerPlay Strategies.  This student driven project included innovative products like bookmarks, stress balls, games, and jello soap. Each student researched non-profit organizations and presented persuasive speeches.  We held a class election and everyone voted for the organization that would benefit the community the most. Aidan Sanders from class 6A researched the Breakfast Club of Canada and Julia Pashak from class 6 presented Hannah’s Heroes and won the votes. Students conducted market research on the playground and designed a product that matched the students’ preferences. All of the grade 6 students manufactured unique and creative ideas to sell at a huge sale. Students asked parents for a loan so that we could buy the materials we needed to make our products. Learning entrepreneurship, the students developed important skills such as advertising, greeting customers, setting a reasonable selling price and paying back loans. Marketing involved filming our own commercials with a green screen to advertise our products and published them on our school website. The grade six classes were very successful in creating our business plans, and most of the products sold out very quickly. By the end of the day, there was practically nothing left. Together we raised $1896.61 for the Breakfast Club of Canada and Hannah’s Heroes. What a successful day!
