Get to know Miss Paular

Hello and welcome to 7A!

My name is Alyann Paular. I will be your child's teacher for this school year! So a little bit about myself, this is my third year teaching at Sacred Heart. I graduated from University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Education in Secondary route. My major is in Social studies and my minor is Moral/Religious Education. I have a certification in Catholic Intellectual tradition from St. Joseph's College. Beside my highschool practicum experiences, I was teaching Catechism (Grade1, 3 & Grade 6) at St. Joseph's Basilica in Edmonton for 5 years.  I have a passion for teaching in a Catholic environment because I want to freely show the beauty of our Catholic faith and help students integrate into their daily lives.I genuinely desire for my students to be self-reflective individuals while looking beyond themselves. Like St. John Paul II, I want to build my students’ self-confidence and help them to dream. I pray my teaching style, which is student-centered and discovery learning, will create a positive impact and a supportive environment for my students.

A few years ago, I was working as a nurse. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Calgary. A lot of people ask me about the huge switch. It's a very long story but to keep it short, I always say this: I fell in love with nursing but God called me to be a bridge for His children. With the help of my nursing background, my ultimate goal for this school year (with God's help) is to prevent COVID from entering into my classroom and spreading to the community. Your child's health and safety always come first. They will be sanitizing and/or washing their hands frequently.

More random facts! Number one, I used to be a competitive dancer and choreographer. I was scouted but my parents didn't see it as a long-term investment. Number 2, if you meet me in person, I might look a lot younger than you expect. Number three, I am gamer. I love playing video games and checking out escape-rooms when I have spare time.

Again, I had a lovely time meeting my students! With God's help, I pray I get to meet you all someday.

May God continue to smile upon your hard work,

Miss Alyann Paular
