Grade One students will have the opportunity for Show and Tell on their specified date, beginning September 11th, 2017. This is a favourite activity and an excellent opportunity for children to speak in front of the class, develop listening skills and learn about their classmates.
This is our schedule each week. We are flexible as our blocks occasionally switch around due to school activities but please note the following speciality classes which are the same weekly.
1. Sign up on the slots I have marked in the black binder outside the office
2. Check back here to see when I am looking for volunteers, then email me and let me know what I can sign you up for.
1. Pasting in Scrapbooks-can be a take home or do in the classroom
Children learn to read by reading and rereading their favourite stories! They also learn how language is "put together" by listening to stories and talking about them and the illustrations that accompany them.
Students will be assessed on a list of spelling words from the "Words Their Way" program. The intention of using this program is to personalize learning by giving children spelling words at their level. This means that the class will have different spelling words which match each student's area of need.
Welcome to Grade One!
I am so thrilled to be teaching your child Grade One this year! I have been teaching at Sacred Heart for 3 years, which was also happens to be a place that was home to me from Kindergarten to Grade 7. This school holds a special place in my heart and I feel so lucky to continue working in my school and faith community. A little about me...I grew up in Ladner and Tsawwassen with my family, lived in Victoria while completing my teaching degree and have been back ever since. Outside of teaching I love going to Seahawk games and on boating trips with my family and friends. I cannot wait to get to know yourselves and your child over this school year. I look forward to learning, exploring and wondering with them all year long.
See you at meet the teacher night!
