Dear Class 6 Students and Parents,

Welcome to our class homepage.  Here, you will  be able to access important information such as students' homework, online handouts (ie: Weekly News), important upcoming events each week, and online resources that can enhance student learning of concepts in various subjects.

The theme of this year is 'Seeking Truth, Healing, and Reconciliation.'  We will reflect upon this message in our classroom as we continue to learn about the teachings of Christ, and follow his example through our acts of kindness and service in the community.

I look forward to helping you achieve your learning goals this year.

Sincerely,

Mr. D'Souza

Good readers use a variety of strategies to improve their comprehension.  Good writers include descriptive vocabulary, a variety of sentence types, and a logical flow between innovative ideas. Here, Grade 6 students can access resources at home to help them become better readers and writers.

The Weekly News promotes students' interest in local and global issues in the form of a weekly article designed for their reading level.  Students complete comprehension questions to assess their understanding of the article, and more importantly, write a critical thinking paragraph in response to a questions that forces them to form an opinion based on what they have learned about the issue.  Here, students can review the critical thinking paragraph criteria, or download the Weekly News files that have been handed out every Monday in class.

With Math, children learn to reason and to connect ideas logically. Math is a universal language that is shared across the globe, and we all use it regularly in our everyday lives.  Having a solid foundation in Math will allow students to better access higher-level careers.  Armed with an excellent understanding of Math, students will be better able to go out into the world and solve various everyday problems that come with being an adult.  Here, Grade 6 students will find links to other Math resources that they can use to improve or develop their skills.
