What a wonderful school community we have. It is great when we can come together and enjoy each other’s company. One such opportunity was Friday at the Dinner Dance Auction, when we celebrated the 30th anniversary of this amazing fundraising event. Thank you to everyone who made the evening so memorable.
This past Saturday over 40 children in the parish received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time; congratulations! Please keep these children and their families in your prayers.
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: All are invited to spend some time in prayer this Friday in the Monastery Chapel. Classes will be making visits for silent prayer all through the day.
Advent Ceremony: All are invited to attend the second Advent Ceremony in the school gym at 10:45am on Monday, December 10.
The Giving Tree: Sacred Heart’s Giving Tree is back again, in hopes of bringing the joy of Christmas to four needy families. The countdown begins today! We have exactly two weeks to gather donations for The Giving Tree. Deadline to drop off your donation is Monday, December 17th. The bulletin board, located in the school foyer, is now adorned with ornaments for your selection. The ornaments are color-coded to represent the families and a wish list item is printed on it.
If you wish to participate, please select an ornament from the bulletin board (you may select as many as you wish) and then sign the ornament out at the office with Mrs. Rumpel. If you have given permission for your child to select an ornament without you, they must also sign out the ornament at the office.
Please be sure to wrap your gift in Christmas paper, tape the ornament onto it, and then check in with Mrs. Rumpel, prior to December 17th. If you are not able to select an ornament, we are in great need of Save-On Food Gift Cards to use towards the large grocery shop for the families. Please give all gift cards to Mrs. Rumpel.
Faith and Sports: A few weeks ago Father Tony Ricard visited our school and spoke to the children. Father Tony is Campus Minister of St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, as well as Catholic Chaplain for the New Orleans Saints. One of his roles as chaplain is saying pregame masses for the players. I was reminded of the the importance of faith in the lives of these professional athletes, and of all people participating in sports, when I read Pat Macken’s recent article in the BC Catholic.
Missions Club: Thank you for ordering your poinsettias, wreaths and planters. Your orders will arrive on Tuesday, December 11th. Please pick them up from the school kitchen from 3-4pm.
Christmas Concert Schedule:
Tuesday, December 18 - 1:30pm: Dress Rehearsal
Wednesday, December 19 - 12:30pm: Matinee
Thursday, December 20 - 7pm: Christmas Concert
