On Monday Class 6B prepared a wonderful assembly to help us get ready for the second week of Advent. They reminded us that John the Baptist appeared in the desert proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. During this week we need to “shape up” as we wait in anticipation and contemplation for the coming of Jesus’ birth.
The children and their teachers are busy working on the Christmas play. I look forward to seeing all of you next week at Wednesday’s matinee and Thursday evening’s performance (see Christmas Concert Schedule below).
Prayer Request: Georgia Olson-Christian, David Olson and Jacob Christian-Willis’ grandmother (mother’s birth mother) recently passed away. Please keep them and their families in your prayers. Thank you.
Reserved Parking: There are two reserved parking spots in front of the school. These spots have been purchased for one year at our Dinner Dance Auction, one of two major fundraisers we have at our school. Please refrain from parking in these spots.
Giving Tree Deadline - Monday, December 17:
Once again, we are awestruck at the support and generosity of our school families. You have to know that you are making a huge difference at Christmas time for these families in their time of need. There are now more ornaments added as we have taken on another family who is also struggling at this time. We would appreciate your continued generosity by taking ornaments, purchasing the gifts or gift cards, wrapping them and returning to our "Giving Tree" this week.
We are less then a week away from our items being picked up and delivered to our families. All items need to be returned no later than Monday December17th, as our truck comes first thing Tuesday morning and we can not get gifts to families once the truck has gone.
If you require a tax form, please bring in your receipt and fill out the form at the office. These forms must be handed in no later than December 17th.
Advent Wreath Ceremony: All are welcome to the ceremony in the gym Monday, December 17 at 1pm. Class 7 will be presenting.

Thursday, December 20 - 7pm: Christmas Concert

Morgan McDonough’s 3rd Annual Sock Rock!
When Morgan was 11, he said he’d like to give back somehow and came up with the idea that if people head warm feet they would have warm hearts! We started collecting socks and decided on doing a fundraising event called a ‘sock rock’. Children bring a pair of socks (or a few pairs of socks) as entrance fee, and dance the night away in their socks (whilst cleaning the gym floor in doing so) to tunes played by a DJ.
Parents are welcome to stay or drop off. The Delta Police department supports us as well and an officer stops by with the police donations. All proceeds, socks and any money raised goes to the Lookout Society, downtown Vancouver. Last year we raised 800 pairs and $2000. There was an article in the optimist, attached below.
When: Saturday, 22nd December, 4-7pm
Where: Parish Centre
Taming Your Worry Dragons:

The group will take place at our Ladner location (203-4840 Delta Street) and be held on these dates:
Grades 3-5: 3:30-4:30 pm on Tuesdays, January 15-March 12
Grades 6-7: 3:30-4:30 pm on Wednesdays, January 16-March 13
Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone you think may be interested in joining, and more information can always be found here.
Lost and Found Bin: The bin is full and needs to be emptied for this Friday. All unidentifiable items will be donated to our school uniform stock and the Thrift Store (mostly coats this week). We are able to return items to the classrooms when the bin is emptied only when you clearly label them. Each year many brand new coats are donated because they are unclaimed week after week.
Pancakes with Santa Claus: Our Knights of Columbus and Santa Claus will be hosting the pancake breakfast breakfast this Sunday following the 9 and 11am Masses. All are invited to the parish hall for a yummy breakfast of pancakes, sausages and scrambled eggs!
