Dear Parents,

This morning the school celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass with Father Francis. During his homily he reminded us of the importance of prayer, fasting and doing holy deeds. These three pillars of lent will be a focus at our school during this season.

God Bless,

Kelly Kozack

Principal

Teaching With Truth: Your Child Growing Up: This is a required evening for parents of children in grades 4-7. The presentation will be held on March 13 from 7-9pm in the school gym. Please see attachment for more information.

Student Pickup: Recently we have had a number of children waitig for their ride on the south side of the Parish Centre. This is out of bounds for students as we cannot provide adequate supervision in this area. After school children are to be picked up in front of the Parish Centre and Church, or you can park your and walk to the front of, or inside, the school and collect your child. Please remember, safety before convenience, thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Hot Lunch/Spirit Day-March 13:  Students are to dress in 'traditional' attire or wear something that represents a culture or country they associate with.

Lenten Reflection: Lent is a time to step back from the business of life a bit so that we can grow closer to God.

  1. Prayer: Commit to praying every day this Lent & you'll be on your way to forming a permanent habit of spending time with God & letting his Word change your heart.

  2. Fasting: Commit to fasting—from some food, activity or attitude that has too tight a grip on you & stand the chance of becoming less attached to this world & more attached to Christ.

  3. Almsgiving: Commit to giving some time & money to helping the poor on a regular basis, generosity & compassion will begin to flow more naturally.

Jesus is inviting you to “return to the Lord, your God” this Lent (Joel 2:13). Every journey begins with the smallest, most ordinary of steps. So get into the daily habit of turning to him through these 3 ordinary spiritual practices. Then watch to see whether something extraordinary comes of them.

Bible Study:  Please join us for our newest Bible Study, David the King, Presented by Bishop Barron Running Tuesdays from March 19 to April  23, 2019, 12:00 noon-2:30 pm at Augustine House, Media Room, 3rd Floor. David is the paradigmatic king in the Old Testament.  His kingship recalls that of Adam in the Garden of Eden, and yet it points toward the King par excellence, Jesus Christ.  In David the King, Bishop Barron helps us to understand this pivotal figure in light of the first King and the King of Kings. King David causes us to look back toward Adam’s kingship and forward toward Christ the King, seeing Christ as the fulfillment of the Davidic line and the realization of the Kingdom of God on earth.  Cost: $20.00.  For more information and registration, please contact, Sue Steevie at 604-943-3007, This email address is being protected from spambots.
