Dear Parents,


 

First Communion, Confirmation, Walkathon, Track and Field Meets...it must be May!! All these events are what make us a great community and like any community it takes everyone to do their part. I thank all of you for stepping up and volunteering at these functions and school functions that occur throughout the entire year.

 

This Saturday afternoon children in our parish will receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Please keep these children and their families in your prayers.

Walkathon This Sunday:  The 2019 Zoomania Walkathon is finally upon us! The forecast looks great for Sunday with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 17. Rest up on Saturday night and don’t forget your sunscreen and Walkathon t-shirt on Sunday. Donations can be made online at Sacred Heart School - Walkathon - 2018-2019

We are still in need of the following volunteers:

  • First aid

  • Cyclist

  • Ticket sales

  • Parking patrol – 4 critical positions

Parents please bring your child’s pledge tally forms and payment to the Walkathon on Sunday. There will be a table set up in the foyer to accept these before and after the Walkathon.

Singing for First Communuion:  Any siblings or friends of those who are receiving First Holy Communion on May 4tth are invited to join the Children's choir to sing on that day. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. that you would like to sing for this special celebration and will attend practice this Thursday, May 2 at 3:15-4:15. Attending the practice is required.





 

Attendance for Audit:  Please note that Sunday, May 5, the day of the annual Walkathon is counted as a school day for audit purposes (a day in lieu is factored into the spring break vacation).  If your child will be absent, you must email the office to confirm that. If you will be walking the route on another day, please email the office as well, and your child will be marked present.  Thank you.




 

Gr 6 Fundraiser Sale:  Once again the Grade 6 students have created, mass produced and marketed their own products to be sold this week to other students.  Watch the commercials on our school website, created by our Grade 6 entrepreneurs, to see what products are available to purchase.

All products will cost between $.50 and $5.00 and all proceeds will be donated to the BC SPCA, the 18th Man and RAPS.


 

Missions Club: To celebrate Mother's Day, Missions Club will be collecting donations for Birthright and BabyGoRound from Monday, May 6th – Friday, May 10th. As there are so many needs, each class has been designated a specific item to collect. If you are unable to bring an item that has been designated to your class, please choose another item on the list or send in a grocery gift card.  Kindly ensure that all of the items are sealed and in good condition. Help Wanted - Part Time Paid Position:  A part time paid position is available for a maintenance helper for Sacred Heart School/Parish.  The position is available from May 23rd to September 27th. Top Marks Uniform Fittings - May 23:  Top Marks uniform reps will be doing uniform fittings on Thursday,  May 23rd from 3-6pm. Please note the information in the attachment below.  The parent letter outlines instructions for booking a fitting. Book now to avoid disappointment.





 

Parish Education Committee – Call Out for New Members!  The Parish Education Committee (PEC) is seeking new members to join the committee for the next school year.

 

The PEC is comprised of our pastor, our principal and parents, who, together, provide direction for Sacred Heart School.  We meet once a month to discuss school matters and work with various sub-committees that support the school (Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Parent Participation and other initiatives and activities).

 

Serving on the PEC is a great opportunity to learn more about Sacred Heart and its programs while using your experience and expertise to ensure a successful future for the school. Your participation in the PEC fulfills your family’s annual Parent Participation hours requirement. We encourage parents who are Catholics in good standing and members of the parish to consider joining the PEC.
