What an amazing weekend! Our First Holy Communion Celebration was blessed event, thank you for your continued prayers for these children and their families. The walkathon was another huge success, we are grateful to you for supporting this fundraising/community building event. This Friday evening Archbishop Miller will be visiting our Parish for our Confirmation celebration. Please pray for these children and their families. Lastly we are almost half way through our track and field season. Yesterday our children took part in the Delta Regional Meet. I commend all of our children for their effort and sportsmanship and thank the staff and parents for all of their support.

Top Marks Uniform Fittings - May 23:  Top Marks uniform reps will be doing uniform fittings on Thursday,  May 23rd from 3-6pm. Please note the information in the attachment below.  The parent letter outlines instructions for booking a fitting. Book now to avoid disappointment.




 

Thank You Mass and Tea:  Gracias, Obrigado, Danke Schoen, Merci Beaucoup.  All parents are cordially invited to attend our annual Thank You Mass and Tea.  The Mass will take place on Thursday, May 30th at 1:15. This will be followed by light refreshments in the gym.  Let us show you our gratitude for the many hours of hard work that you all have put in to make our school so special.




 

Walkathon:  Thank you to all who participated and volunteered at yesterday's Zoomania Walkathon!  It was a gorgeous sunny day and there were smiles on everyone's faces. Missions Club:

Baby Item Donations:  To celebrate Mother's Day, Missions Club will be collecting donations for Birthright and BabyGoRound from Monday, May 6th – Friday, May 10th. As there are so many needs, each class has been designated a specific item to collect. If you are unable to bring an item that has been designated to your class, please choose another item on the list or send in a grocery gift card.  Kindly ensure that all of the items are sealed and in good condition. Help Wanted - Part Time Paid Position:  A part time paid position is available for a maintenance helper for Sacred Heart School/Parish.  The position is available from May 23rd to September 27th. The primary responsibility will be grounds maintenance on Thursdays and Friday i.e. lawn mowing, weeding of planters and trimming of grass along the open ditches.  Please email your resume by May 15th to Barry Marshall at This email address is being protected from spambots. Calling Any Green Thumbs:  If you are keen to help keep our grounds green, then please send me a meme and I’ll add you to our team.  If you are able to support our spring/summer water program, then we would love to have you. Our objective is to keep our school and parish grounds clean and green over the spring and summer months. Every year we have a dedicated group of families that ensure our grass, greens and plants are watered and weeded throughout the spring and summer (May-Sept). Parish Education Committee – Call Out for New Members!  The Parish Education Committee (PEC) is seeking new members to join the committee for the next school year.

 

The PEC is comprised of our pastor, our principal and parents, who, together, provide direction for Sacred Heart School.  We meet once a month to discuss school matters and work with various sub-committees that support the school (Fundraising, Marketing, Communications, Finance, Parent Participation and other initiatives and activities).

 

Serving on the PEC is a great opportunity to learn more about Sacred Heart and its programs while using your experience and expertise to ensure a successful future for the school. Your participation in the PEC fulfills your family’s annual Parent Participation hours requirement. We encourage parents who are Catholics in good standing and members of the parish to consider joining the PEC.

Lost and Found Bin Clearance:   The bin will be emptied next Wednesday, May 15.  All unlabelled uniforms and other items will be donated to the used uniform stock and local thrift shop respectively.  Please look through the bin to avoid disappointment. There are a lot of jackets.




 

Parish News:

 

Parish Potluck:  All Sacred Heart School and Parish family and friends welcome! Join together with other families in our community. Bring a main dish or appetizer for the simple Potluck Dinner that takes place at 6pm in the Parish Center after evening Mass on Sunday, May 12. It’s Mother’s Day so moms don’t have to cook or clean up! And the kids can run off their energy! We will open the doors at 4:50pm if you need to drop off items before Mass. Spread the word! In the words of the Magnificat, Mary proclaimed to Elizabeth her gratitude for the wonderful action of God in her life.  Please join us at our breakfast for Catholic women of the Vancouver Archdiocese, where we will share together in the same spirit of gratitude and praise of God. After the breakfast, there will be a time of prayer for the needs of all present and an opportunity to hear our speaker, Lisa Rumpel, and her experience of the transforming love of Christ in her own life.
