In keeping with our “Care For Our Common Home” theme, our family group activity today focused on animals. I thank the grade 5 students and teachers for organizing this great day for us. Thank you to those of you who were able to bring a bottle donation for the St. Monica Guild Christmas Market Bottle Booth. We will continue to accept bottle donations at the school office.
School Mass: Thursday, October 27 from 9:15am -10:15 am. Class 3A will be serving. All are invited to attend.
Coffee and Tea Mix and Mingle: Join us after the school mass tomorrow to warm up and catch up with a cup of coffee or tea. We will meet at the back of the church in the Sunflower Room. Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided.
Robotics Club Fundraiser: Do you like Cookies? The Saints Robotics team will be having a cookies sale on Thursday after school this week. For just $2, you will get a Spooky Gingerbread cookie freshly baked by our friends at Richlea Bakery. Come hungry!
Halloween Candy Donations: If you have extra Halloween candy and would like to donate it to the Agape Street Ministry. Please bring it to Mrs. De Sousa’s Grade 2 class. Thank you very much.
Dinner Dance Auction Update:
How does the DDA Benefit the School?: The purpose of the annual Dinner Dance Auction event is to raise funds for the Sacred Heart School Community, and to enrich the educational experiences of our kids. The only way that this can happen is through the generous sponsorship that we receive from local businesses and through your donations (which are tax deductible!) Thank you in advance for indicating your donation on to the ticket order form! Your donations will help the DDA team source some amazing auction items for you to bid on at the auction!
Tickets: "Top Secret" invitations have gone out and should have made their way home. Please fill it out and return it as soon as possible so that you don't miss out on this incredible evening.

Setup - Friday, November 4
@ 2:15 Strong arms are required to help lay down floor covering!
@ 2:15 Helper with a truck to transport tables for the Tea Room from the Clubhouse
@ 3:00 Table setup starts, heavy lifting required to set up the tables.
@ 3:00 Once the tables are up we need organizers to stock the tables and price items.
@ 3:30 One person to decorate a Christmas tree in the lobby
Saturday, November 5
@ 8:45 AM Booth Helpers required - 2-4 people required. The Market runs from 9:00-2:00
@ 2:15 - Clean Up (Double Hours) Take down and put away tables, flooring, garbage clean up, etc.
@ 3:30 Helper with a truck to transport tables to the Clubhouse

Tea Room: The famous Tea Room is looking for cakes & treats suitable to be cut into small squares for the Tea Room. Please ensure all baking items are in disposable containers and labelled "Tea Room". Items can be dropped off at the school gym after 3pm on Friday, Nov 4 or before 9am on Saturday, Nov 5 Please contact Lynne Willox at 604 789-2912 for more information.
Cake Walk: The infamous calk walk is back for another year! We need single layered decorated cakes for this fun game. Please ensure all cakes are in disposable containers and labelled "Cake Walk". Cakes can be dropped off at the school gym after 3pm on Friday, Nov 4 or before 9am on Saturday, Nov 5
The Bottle Booth is graciously accepting bottles for our bottle booth raffle. Sealed bottles of any size, shape and content are welcome. You may drop off your donations in the box marked "Christmas Market Bottle Booth" located on the right hand side of the school stage.
Sandwich Fillings: donations of canned ham, tuna, mayonnaise and asparagus tips (not pickled please) would be greatly appreciated. You may drop off your donations in the box marked "Christmas Market Sandwich Makings" " located on the right hand side of the school stage.
The Art & Spirituality corner urgently needs your donations of any religious art including statues, medals, crosses, rosaries, pictures, paintings, cards, bibles. prayer books, books, 1st communion or confirmation items, etc. Call Helene Calvert (604-943-1979) or Julie Petrie Thomas (778-834-7620) to arrange drop-off or pick up.
Odyssey of the Mind Registration - Still Open:
If your child is in Grades 4-7 and would like to join Odyssey of the Mind this year, please register them online through the school website, from the main page. Just look for the Odyssey logo. If your child has handed a paper form in, there is no need to re-register. Please register before this Friday October 28th. We will be looking to form our teams next week.
If your child would like more information about Odyssey of the Mind, please have them find Mrs. Wyenberg, usually in the library, and she can answer any questions they might have.

Monday, November 7, at 7:30pm in the Clubhouse. Our speaker will be Debbie Cheong, who will speak on the topic of Aging.... an Olympic Event! Join Debbie Cheong (Provincial Coordinator of BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre’s Osteofit Program) in exploring the role of exercise in healthy aging. This interactive session will explore the effects of exercise and physical activity in reducing the risk of falls, management of chronic disease and quality of life.
