With the Christmas quickly approaching, our school continues to be a very busy place! Christmas concert rehearsals have now begun in earnest as we are two short weeks away from our matinee performance. Mrs. Chapman’s Grade 7 class prepared our first Advent Assembly this Monday. Our teachers have been busy working on your child’s Student Progress Report which will be distributed this Friday. Please see the attached letter for details about these reports. Thank you for supporting our Giving Tree project, your generosity is appreciated.
Attendance Updates: Throughout the year you may receive an email stating date of an absence for your child. All of the information is in the subject and all you need to do is to reply confirming the absence, giving the reason, i.e. illness, medical appointment, vacation, parent excused. This information is mandatory for our annual audit, and the sooner you reply, the more accurate the information will be.
Unexcused Absences: Absences for reasons other than illness should be kept to a minimum. Loss of school time may jeopardize your child’s year and usually results in missing new concepts taught during his/her absence. If vacations must be arranged during school time, parents must notify teachers of the trip at least one week prior to the child’s absence.
It is the responsibility of the parent to ensure that any important class assignments missed during unexcused absences are attended to upon the child’s return. Further, it should not be expected that the teacher provide the child with materials prior to the holiday.
In order to receive the government grant, a child must be in attendance for a specified number of days during the year. If a child were to miss too many days due to holidays, this could jeopardize reception of the grant. In this case, the parents would be held responsible to pay the balance.
Poinsettia Fundraiser -Thank you for Growing Smiles! We would like to thank all the families that were able to support the Missions Club and Operation Smile by purchasing your holiday greenery. With your help, we were able to raise over $400 for Operation Smile.
Giving Tree: So many ornaments have been taken already, thank you for your support. If you haven't made your way into the school to take an ornament, there are still many important items that the families we are supporting, are in need of. If you are unable to make it into the school but would like to contribute, we can always use more Save On Foods gift cards. Large boxes to pack the hampers are urgently needed. Please return all wrapped items and gift cards to the school on or before December 15th. We will not be able to accept items past that date. Thank you!
Volunteer Opportunity: More volunteers are needed to help with Hot Lunch on Dec 13th from 11:15am to around 1pm. So far I only have one hot lunch helper but I will need two more.
