On Tuesday afternoon we had our kick-off assembly for our upcoming Walkathon, one of the major fundraisers for our school. There was a great energy in the gym as the children are excited to begin collecting pledges and help our school meet our fundraising goal. This is a huge undertaking coordinated by parent volunteers; thank you to everyone who has stepped up to plan this event. As always, I thank you, the parents, for your support of our school and of Catholic education.
This Saturday morning children in our parish receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion will be taking part in a retreat as a final preparation to receive the Sacrament. Please keep the children, their families and the people supporting them in their preparations in your prayers.
This week the City of Delta is conducting a traffic study along Arthur Drive and specifically, the traffic flow entering and exiting our property. In conversation with one of the city engineers, he was impressed with not only our traffic flow plan but also the courtesy the drivers showed to each other as they exited the lot.
Letter From the Pastor: Please see the attachment below.
Prayer Request: Dr. Milan Milosevic’s father recently passed away. Please pray for him and for his family. Thank you.
Lifetouch Class Photo Day: Please note that class photos will be taken this Friday.
Hot Lunch/ Spirit Day April 25 - “Earth Day”: Are you excited for Earth Day? The Grade 4 students at Sacred Heart certainly are! Classes 4 and 4A are proud to host our April 'Earth-themed' Spirit Day and Family Group Activities. On Wednesday April 25th, students are asked to come to school wearing one (or more, if you'd like) of the following:
Something that shows the colours of nature (green, brown, blue)
Something that reminds us to care for nature (e.g. a picture of a special animal or place in nature...maybe even a t-shirt from a family trip to a special lake or mountain, or any other idea that fits this theme)
Something that is eco friendly or made in an ecofriendly way (i.e. organic cotton...or any other idea you have that fits this theme)
Simple accessories (hats, etc.) made creatively from recycled objects
Outfits could be as easy or complex to put together as and your family would like to make them! Try to be 'earth-friendly' as well as creative when putting your outfits together. Students (especially Grades 3 and up), might be asked to tell their small group what is special about what they are wearing and why. Photos might also be taken that day with small prizes given for creative ideas.
...Ready?...Set? ...You have 1 weeks to plan your great "Earth Day" outfit...GO!
Thank you to everyone who has signed up online to volunteer. We have several areas filled already which is great news, however we still have opening for crossing guards parking patrol, set up, clean up, and game zone.https://portal.onvolunteers.com/Login.aspx?s=shs Please take a look to see if you can help on May 6th
Please remind any online donors to note your child’s name and class in the notes section online. This will help to ensure that class tallies are correct and children are awarded their correct prize. Please visit https://chim.pn/2EvpgGC The fundraising website at chimp.net will automatically issue a tax receipt for all credit card contributions.
At the rally this week, we announced the individual, class, and school prizes for the year. You will be receiving a pledge form cover sheet this week which we ask you to complete and hand I with your pledge forms on May 6th. Your child will be able to select prizes if they raise $100, $200 and $300. All prizes are cumulative.
We are still looking for a DJ and tents for the day!
