Our Family Group theme today was “All about Us”. We explored our identities and asked the students to answer questions. Am I what I do? Am I what I achieve? Am I the things I’ve done right? Am I defined by the things I’ve done wrong? Am I defined by what others think of me? If I am what I do, I will always need to do more and achieve more to have value. If I am what others say, I will exhaust myself trying to please people.
Who does God say I am? Through prayer and reflection, we can discern how God sees us and what He intends for our lives. We can detach from all the pulls at defining our identity by worldly standards and peacefully trust that God has a plan for each of us. We are loved and we belong. How can we grow to believe that truth? How can we live that truth in our daily lives?
Thanks to Mr. Heraghy and class 6A for designing this family group activity that was packed with fun and creativity.

Liturgy of the Word with Children (LWC) : Did you know that Sacred Heart Parish offers a special program for young children during the Sunday morning Masses? In the Liturgy of the Word With Children, kids ages 4 and up are taken to a special area of the Church at the start of Mass.
They learn about the weekly Gospel readings in a simplified, age appropriate manner and are taught about the meaning of different elements of the Mass. Through songs, games and crafts, children are able to access the Word of the Lord in ways they can understand. Please take advantage of this program on Sunday mornings at both 9:00 and 11:00 masses. Children are called down by the Priest at the start of Mass, and return to their seats with you prior to Communion.
