Clubs & Activities

At Sacred Heart, we pride ourselves in providing a variety of extracurricular activities that meet the needs and interests of our students. These clubs are organized by both teachers and parents and we are very thankful for their dedication and time.

From creative activities like Arts & Crafts or Choir, to athletic challenges like lunch-hour Floor Hockey and after school Sports Teams, there are many opportunities to be a part of the school community outside the classroom.  Students can even find academic challenges if they wish through clubs like Chess and our two Competitive Reading Clubs.

The Missions Club

This is a very active Club where students learn that we are called to justice and charity by serving others.  The Missions Club is involved on the global front with Operation Smile (www.operationsmile.org) and Operation Christmas Child through Samaritan's Purse.  We also support local organizations and causes, such as the Ladner Food Bank.  Students are enthusiastically involved in a wide variety of fundraising and volunteer opportunities, learning along the way to be grateful for the many blessings they have and to reach out to those less fortunate than themselves. Please contact Mrs Lim with inquiries.

The Lego Robotics Club

The mBot Coding Club

The mBot Coding club provides opportunities for students to develop their logical thinking and design skills in a fun and challenging robotic environment.  Students use a 'Drag and Drop' programming tool, much like Scratch, to turn their robots into sumo wrestlers, maze followers and jousting knights.  The robots are constucted using the Arduino microcontroller and can be programmed to interact with environmental inputs using a variety of sensors and motors.  Please visit the makeblock website for more information about the mBot robot.

Chess Club

The Chess club meets every few weeks in the library to compete in ad hoc matches and round robin tournaments.  All skill levels are encouraged to attend and every effort is made to balance skill levels.

Arts & Crafts Club

The Arts and Crafts Club is an extra curricular club were students share in an appreciation of visual art activities.  At both the primary and intermediate levels, the main focus is to look at various artists to examine art elements, style and techniques using a variety of media.  This is a club where a willingness to try is the most important skill required.

Intermediate Choir

Our main goal of the intermediate choir is to develop music and leadership skills as students share their talents in service of others. Our other equally important goal is to create community and have fun.

Our practices begin at 8:10 am in the church on the days we have school Mass. In addition to these monthly practices, we meet each week as a school to practice our songs Wednesday mornings from 9:00 to 9:15 am.  If you interested in joining the intermediate choir, please down load a permission slip. Please contact Mrs. Grund if you have further questions.

Please check the school calendar for scheduled Mass Dates and times.
