Rooted in Faith

Our Archdiocesan Theme, “Rooted in Faith” is a central focus for us at Sacred Heart School. Throughout the 2026-2027 school year we will explore the many ways we can cultivate 'good soil' in our school and parish community. Just as roots anchor a tree, draw nourishment from the soil, and provide stability during storms, our faith provides inner strength, grounding, and resilience through life's hardships.

The botanical metaphor is deeply ingrained in both scripture and broader spiritual teachings . This imagery is frequently used in both the Old and New Testaments. In Jeremiah 17:7-8, the metaphor describes those who trust in the Lord as trees planted by water, sending out roots that never wither. In Colossians 2:6-7, followers are encouraged to be "rooted and built up in Him," emphasizing that faith is the foundation of one's entire life.

As Catholic educators we are called to nurture our Faith and to be in the service of others, for Faith is not self-serving. It needs to bear fruit for others. At Sacred Heart School, we aim to create a welcoming community of faith and learning for our students. Through prayer, parish life and acts of service, and by exploring this year's theme in the classroom, we will help our students build strong, resilient roots that will continue to bear fruit and support them throughout their lives.
